About Deborah

My passion for healing began during my Ph.D. studies in psychological anthropology at Berkeley. I also was part of a team who taught medical students to work with patients more sensitively.

New York City beckoned and I changed the course of my life, taking a job in corporate giving and working with community members to help them better their lives. I looked for more meaning in my own life, studying Eastern and Western wisdom traditions. I worked with Native American healers, studied shamanism in Peru and sought a deeper understanding of the mind-body-spirit connection for basic health and healing.

Inspired to become a therapist, I spent three years, completing the Integrative Therapy Program at the New York Open Center, which showed me how psychotherapy could also incorporate the spiritual.

During the AIDS epidemic, I volunteered as a therapist at a spiritual center that worked with people with life-challenging illnesses, people who faced tremendous grief and loss. We helped them find meaning in what was happening to them and found times of laughter, profound understanding and acceptance or fight, whatever was appropriate for them.

Realizing that no one approach would address all issues, I trained in regression therapy with Dr. Brian Weiss. With this methodology my clients could bypass their rational mind and find insight and healing in other realities. I also trained in clinical hypnotherapy, developing an approach that moves past life blocks to experiencing future possibilities. Combining the rational guidelines for change coupled with the intuitive, the visionary, deep permanent change was and is possible.

Each session is co-created drawing from your own strengths and experiencing what is conceivable. Cognitive change, professional relationship, personal, attaining goals, getting rid of toxic relationships or jobs. And the spiritual—contacting loved ones who have passed on, understanding your reason, the origin of blocks to fulfillment, maybe from another life, ways that your deepest beliefs can help you—all of these can be harnessed to make your life work better for you.

My private practice has been called “transformational.” People have left their jobs to find better ones, unlocked their creativity, found healthier ways to be in relationships, healed and more deeply understood loved ones, and discovered tools to live the lives they were born to live.
